It is in Darjeeling District’s Rangli Rangliot area, which is 22 km from the main city of Darjeeling. Situated at an altitude of 4124 m, you can enjoy the a panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjungha from the scenic beauty of this simple hamlet. A dreamy place where the sun and clouds play hide and seek with glee and mist descends at its own will, the foggy trails, the blooming orchids and the majestic mountain views – if all these are making you want to leave your desk just now, then Takdah is just the right place for you.
Takdah was formerly a British cantonment area as early as the 1900s and it still holds that old world aura. The British had chosen this place after much thought. The place is surrounded by hills and cannot be seen easily from the other side of the mountains. A perfect place for their cantonment! Also, the place is quite near to Darjeeling away from the oppressive heat of the plains. So many houses and bungalows had come up for the accommodation of the British.

Lamahatta is a beautiful eco-tourism destination located near Takdah. Lamahatta Village with its magnificent gardens and views of Kanchenjunga is about 10kms from Takdah (30 minutes).
Tiger Hill is located 10kms (12 minutes) from Takdah. It's the highest point in Darjeeling hills at an altitude of 8482 feet. The best time to visit between Mid October to December.
Batasia Loop is located 20 kms from Takdah. There is no better place to get a 360 degree view of Darjeeling's landscape including the hill town and the snow covered peaks of the Eastern Himalayas with the Kanchenjunga on one side.
